Estimada Malala Yousufzai:
Los Hermanos de las Escuelas Cristianas, junto con más de 86.000 educadores Lasalianos y un millón de estudiantes lasallistas que participan en nuestras comunidades educativas de todo el mundo, quisiera felicitarlos por el Premio Nobel de la Paz 2014.
De manera especial, nos unimos a los educadores y los estudiantes de nuestros cuatro centros en Pakistán: Faisalabad, Karachi, Multan y Khushpur. En su nombre, queremos darle las gracias por el testimonio inestimable de su vida.
Nos inspiramos en el mensaje que proclamó en las Naciones Unidas. Es claro para nosotros que las balas de los talibanes sólo sirvieron para que su voz claramente resuenan más en todo el mundo. Los que querían silenciarla sólo le dio más impulso para desafiar a todos a unirse en la defensa del derecho de todos los niños a la educación.
En sus palabras, en su vida y a través del perdón a sus enemigos, no sólo reconocemos un buen estudiante inteligente, sino también una gran persona y una sabia maestra. Usted nos recuerdan que cada profesor tiene que aprender a escuchar a sus alumnos y aprender de ellos.
Estamos de acuerdo con usted en que la pluma es más poderosa que la espada; es por eso que trabajamos tan duro para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a ser hombres y mujeres responsables y solidarios con sus hermanos y hermanas.
También estamos de acuerdo en que un niño, un maestro, un lápiz y un libro pueden cambiar el mundo y que la educación es la única solución. Sí, la educación es lo primero.
Nosotros también sabemos que el analfabetismo es una de las peores manifestaciones de la pobreza y queremos unirnos a ustedes ya todos los hombres de buena voluntad que luchan y la lucha mundial contra el analfabetismo, la pobreza y el terrorismo.
En 1990, el Instituto de los Hermanos de las Escuelas Cristianas recibió premio NOMA de la UNESCO para el trabajo que hacemos en el campo de la alfabetización. Sin embargo, aún queda mucho por hacer. Según la UNESCO, 75 millones de niños siguen sin tener acceso a la educación.
A medida que nos recuerdas, el Islam establece que la educación no es sólo el derecho de todo niño, sino también su deber y responsabilidad. La Biblia nos enseña que Jesús amaba a los niños y sobre todo que todo lo que haga a uno de ellos lo hacemos a Él; es por eso que nos esforzamos por ver a todos los niños como nuestro hermano y hermana a quien Dios ha confiado a nuestro cuidado.
En el nombre del Dios clemente y compasivo, le prometemos que vamos a seguir defendiendo los Derechos del Niño y en particular el derecho a la educación.
Durante más de 300 años, nuestro Instituto se ha dedicado a la educación humana y cristiana de los niños y jóvenes. Nosotros inculcamos a nuestros estudiantes un profundo respeto por su propia cultura, la fe religiosa y los valores sociales. También nos motivamos que sean respetuosos de las culturas, las religiones y los valores de otros pueblos.

In a special way, we join the educators and the students of our four centers in Pakistan: Faisalabad, Karachi, Multan and Khushpur. On their behalf, we want to thank you for the priceless testimony of your life.
We were inspired by the message you proclaimed at the United Nations. It is clear to us that the bullets of the Taliban only served to make your voice clearly resound around the world. Those who wanted to silence you only impelled you to challenge all of us to join in the defense of the right of all children to education.
In your words, in your life and through by forgiving your enemies, we not only recognize an intelligent student, but also a great person and a wise teacher. You remind us that every teacher has to learn to listen to his students and learn from them.
We agree with you that the pen is mightier than the sword; that’s why we work so hard to help our students to become informed and responsible men and women in solidarity with their brothers and sisters.
We also concur that one child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world and that education is the only solution. Yes, education comes first.
We, too, know that illiteracy is one of the worst manifestations of poverty and we want to join you and all people of good will who fight the global fight against illiteracy, poverty and terrorism.
In 1990 the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools received UNESCO’s NOMA prize for the work we do in the field of literacy. However, there is still much to do. According to UNESCO, 75 million children still do not have access to education.
As you remind us, Islam states that education is not only the right of every child but also their duty and responsibility. The Bible teaches us that Jesus particularly loved children and that whatever we do to one of them we do it Him; that is why we strive to see every child as our brother and sister whom God has entrusted to our care.
